I loved college. It gave me a sense of independence and freedom I have never experienced before.

Nancy finished her third year of high school with the help of a 2017 Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls provided through the White Feather Foundation. Since then, she continued her secondary studies and, as of November 2018, became a proud high school graduate with an entrepreneurial outlook on her future.

Nancy has been studying for a career in culinary arts and is currently completing her apprenticeship so that she’s ready for hire — or ready to start her own catering business. We can’t wait to see what she cooks up next!
This concludes our series of posts in memory of Cynthia Lennon on this 5th anniversary of her passing. The Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls was established in 2017 in honour of her spirit to provide new generations of young women with the education, tools and confidence to live their best lives.
The first two rounds of funding for the scholarships benefitted 20 girls affiliated with Connect To Learn, a global education initiative of The Earth Institute at Columbia University, Ericsson and Millennium Promise. The most recent round of funding supported 15 girls at the Cura Orphanage in Kenya, a project of Creative Visions Foundation. We’re pleased to bring you updates from these 35 promising young students as they continue their journeys to success and hope to provide many more with the recipients of the 2020 scholarships, but we cannot do it without your help.
The unfortunate reality is that many girls in underprivileged areas will never get the opportunities they need to succeed because of the hardships they face. That’s why it’s so important to give to The Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls.
If you’ve been moved by stories like Nancy’s and want to help other girls like her reach their dreams, please consider offering a generous donation. Give with love, here.
