In response to an idea from a loyal supporter, we’ve created another way to give.
The Cause
The Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls is in its 11th year and so far has helped 87 students realize their educational dreams. Applications are currently being accepted and the selection process for the 2026 recipients will begin next month, to be awarded in early September.
In the meantime, it’s vital that we raise additional funds to furnish these scholarships and provide the most opportunities possible.
The Math
Each scholarship we award is $1500 total, regardless of country or circumstance. For most of the underprivileged areas we serve, that is an enormous sum that can sometimes pay for an entire year of tuition, room and board.
So far, since our last scholarships were awarded in 2025, with monthly donors and one-time donations, we have raised just over $7500 toward this fund.
What that means?
If the scholarships were awarded today, we would only be able to reach 5 students.
We think we can do better than that!
Gather for Good
Talking through the challenges faced in such a rough economic year, a supporter suggested getting groups together to give one total scholarship with each of the participants being responsible for a certain amount. Then recognizing the group as the collective contributor for one full scholarship.
For example, invite 14 people who have the capacity to give $100 each and donate $100 of your own = $1500 = 1 Scholarship.
Or, invite 29 guests and ask for $50 instead of $100 … you get the drift.
Where should you host?
First, we understand that many people don’t have homes or yards large enough to host groups, so if interested, we would recommend reserving free space at a public park or meeting at a restaurant where they can accommodate larger reservations.
If you are hosting at home or in a park, be sure to provide refreshments. If you’re meeting at a pub or similar place, perhaps *offer to buy appetizers, etc. Just be transparent if guests are expected to purchase their own drinks/food.
During the event, if you have access to a screen or computer, feel free to share previous stories, photos and videos from our past scholarship recipients. If you are in the Seattle area, there may be opportunity to have a TWFF representative attend and provide a brief overview of the scholarship program for your guests.
Who should you invite?
Friends, family, neighbors, parents of your children’s friends, community members from your church/synagogue/mosque, your service providers such as hairstylists, doctors, etc.—basically anyone you think would like to support young girls in education.
How should you ask?
Upon registration with The White Feather Foundation, you’ll be provided with a sample script of what to write in the email or text you send to invite your guests, should you need guidance.
On your invite, be sure to provide the address, date, time and expectation for giving. No one likes to be put on the spot for a donation if they aren’t prepared. A list of free, easy-to-use e-invite options will also be provided upon registration.
Day or Evening of Event
Arrive early (if you’re not hosting at home) to ensure the space is ready and welcome each guest as they arrive, having each sign in with the name they’ll use should they choose to donate.
Once you’ve explained the program to those who may not already know about it, come up with a name for your group to represent your giving community. This will be how TWFF matches up donations to give due credit, plus how we acknowledge your contribution online and in our Annual Report.
Next, present the custom QR code (TWFF will provide upon registration) to each guest, so if they choose to donate, they can do so securely and privately. Also, if they’re US citizens, so that the donation is registered to them for their tax receipt.
Please note, we cannot accept cash.
If you have individuals who prefer to give by check instead of credit/debit card or PayPal, that’s totally fine—just provide pre-addressed stamped envelopes (address provided upon TWFF registration) for their convenience to ensure they reach the correct destination (our bank).

Please note: We cannot accept any in-kind donations of any nature. These events are only meant to raise funding for scholarships. Any items sent to us will be returned at the sender’s expense.
After the Event
Once your event has concluded, we’ll send you a form to complete, which confirms participants and officially records your group as a scholarship sponsor.
If you choose to submit photos from your event, be sure to let us know any handles you’d like tagged on Instagram or Facebook.
