Help Provide a WASH-M Package for Zambian Students
Zambians live on less than $2.15 per day. This high poverty rate is compounded by inadequate water and sanitation services. Children are at an elevated risk for malnutrition and waterborne illnesses, and disease outbreaks are common. The government recently enacted an ‘Education for All’ policy that has admissions skyrocketing.
Splash is a nonprofit organisation, headquartered in the United States, committed to ensure that children in urban poverty have the resources they need to thrive and realize their full potential. They developed child-focused WASH-M (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Menstrual Health) packages and have so far helped over 1 million children across Africa and Asia.
Infused with years of experience and learnings, their program includes the implementation of water tanks and filtration systems; toilets; plumbing; and drinking and handwashing stations into the schools that need them the most.
This specific method of assistance aligns with The White Feather Foundation in three of our areas of giving: Clean Water (as the project provides access), Education & Health (to improve physical well-being at learning institutions) and The Environment (they use climate-resilient infrastructure, cool roof technology and water efficiency tools).
RAW MATERIALS
Your donation helps cover the costs of the plumbing, which connects the tanks, filters, stations and toilets to keep water flowing.
DRINKING AND HANDWASHING STATIONS
Your donation pays for drinking stations that provide flowing, filtered water for consumption and child-friendly handwashing stations, which encourage regular handwashing with soap.
STAFF AND ACCOUNTING
Your donation funds staff that will recruit the team to build the infrastructure; provide governance and management; and ensure sufficient long-term training for the community.
