We’ve received many emails in recent weeks asking for details about when grants are awarded, so we thought it would be best to address all of the questions in one place and shed light on the specifics of the process.
Clean Water
On World Water Day, we announced our 2025 Clean Water grant recipient would be the organisation ‘So They Can’ who initiated a project in Kenya with funds we issued upon the campaign’s conclusion. No further funding will be awarded for clean water projects this year. We will announce the Clean Water application schedule for 2026 at the end of this year.
The Environment
Applications were open for environmental projects throughout the month of April. This area of giving is now closed and the over 2000 applications we received are under review. On June 5th (World Environment Day), we will announce to the public which group was chosen and launch the official campaign to raise the additional funds needed to fulfill their project.
The Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls
Entering its 10th year, we hope to make The 2025 Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls our largest year yet. In July, we will announce the opening of applications and detail the process. As usual, the scholarships will not be open to individuals or families, but instead educational institutions and registered charities, NGOs and educational programs. The recipients will be named on Cynthia’s birthday, September 10th with funding issued in late August to ensure it reaches recipients in time to begin their school year.
Education and Health
Applications for Education and Health projects will open in October with the funding issued in December. The specific deadlines and criteria will be communicated in September.
The Preservation and Protection of Indigenous Cultures
We are not accepting any applications in this area of giving until our current campaign, Save the Mirning Sea Country, is fully funded.
What happens if we send applications outside of the designated time-frame?
Out of respect to the groups who submitted on time, we delete all applications that don’t make the deadline. Should you wish to apply the following year, you would need to re-submit a new form when applications re-open.
What if the amounts listed don't meet the needs of our project?
We would encourage you to apply for the greatest amount we offer and, if you are selected for a grant, supplement the remaining funding with a grant or fundraising with another group. Many of our recipients get their funding from multiple sources.
How will we know if we were selected?
Our team will notify all finalists when the review process is in the final selection stages. Following that, the recipient will be chosen and announced, which will be made public on our website, in our newsletter and on our social media pages.
Due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot respond to emails asking for the status of yours. If you haven’t heard from us a week prior to our announcement date, please assume another organisation was chosen.
We wish the best of luck to all applicants.
