Support Communities in Times of Crises

World Central Kitchen is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. When disaster strikes, WCK’s Relief Team mobilizes to the frontlines with the urgency of now to start cooking and provide meals to people in need. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively. Good food provides not only nourishment, but also comfort and hope, especially in times of crisis.

WCK responds to natural disasters, man-made crises, and humanitarian emergencies around the world. They’re a team of food first responders, mobilizing with the urgency of now to get meals to the people who need them most. 

Deploying their model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, they know that a nourishing meal in a time of crisis is so much more than a plate of food—it’s hope, it’s dignity, and it’s a sign that someone cares.

We last partnered with World Central Kitchen in 2023 for our “Feed the Hungry in Conflict Zones” campaign. The White Feather Foundation community came together and raised $10,000 to provide meals for those impacted by the Israel-Hamas War. For this campaign, we have broadened the beneficiary areas to include several impacted locations across the globe and increased the goal to $15,000 due to the multiple events they are responding to worldwide.

WCK’s Relief Team served hot meals to federal workers and their families impacted by the U.S. government shutdown. In late October, their team deployed food trucks to distribute meals to federal employees and their loved ones.

In Jamaica, WCK is providing fresh meals to communities affected by Hurricane Melissa. Initially a Category 5 storm, Melissa brought destructive winds, torrential rain, and widespread flooding. Their team is scaling up daily, cooking from large-capacity kitchens to reach as many people as possible. In Montego Bay, a convention center has been transformed into a kitchen producing tens of thousands of meals each day, while additional operations in Negril and partnerships with more than 30 local restaurants ensure meals reach families in the hardest-hit areas.

In Brazil, WCK is responding after a powerful tornado struck the state of Paraná in the southern part of the country. With wind speeds reaching 180–250 km/h, the storm killed at least six people, injured hundreds, and caused widespread destruction to homes, infrastructure, and essential services. Their Relief Team is working with local partners to serve meals to affected families.

Food

Your donation pays for the fruits, vegetables, breads, beans, rice, meats, spices and drinks that feed the hungry. The team takes great care to curate menus that are familiar to the locals they serve, out of respect to their people and cultures.

Emergency Crews

Your donation pays professional chefs and meal coordinators to organise, prepare and distribute nutritious meals to those in need, whether impacted by a climate, humanitarian or community crisis.

Transportation

Your donation pays for the airfare and ground transportation to move the staff, food, cooking equipment and supplies needed into the safest areas where they can distribute meals.
