Meet Diana, Future Journalist

This is the first in our series that spotlights recipients of The Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls.

My dream was to be an art teacher. I was thrilled when at the age of 12, I got into the junior art school, which was down the street from the art college.

“My name is Diana. I am a former student at Ulumbi High School. I am so grateful for the Millennium Village Project through Connect to Learn and The White Feather Foundation’s Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls for sponsoring my education. Sincerely, I really do not know where I would have been without the scholarship I got from you.”

Meet Diana, Future Journalist 1

“I had no parents to sponsor my education. I only have my guardians who are my brothers and they could not manage to sponsor my secondary school education. After doing well in my primary education, I tried to look for help everywhere in vain until the day when I applied for the scholarship.

I was very glad when I got the scholarship and was able to join Ulumbi High School, where I achieved a grade that will give me direct entry to the university. I would like to do a course in journalism when I get to the university. I want to remain determined in order to get what I want and meet my ambitions. I would also like to give back to the community. I would like to help other children who have the same challenges as mine so that they can achieve their goals and meet their dreams just as Connect To Learn has done for me. I’m very thankful.

Thank you for sponsoring my education.”
