Touch The Earth making an impact

TTE Australia United Way

“The children enjoyed the Touch the Earth Book. One of the little projects we included in our playgroup was recycling of water bottles. There is no recycle system here in the community, it all ends up at the dump and burnt! So we recycled the water bottles to teach the children by putting different coloured bottles together at playgroup. I hope this little story helps demonstrate what the children are doing at a young age to support a cleaner environment in Doomadgee through early literacy and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.”

– Terri from Save The Children, Mornington Island in the gulf of Carpentaria

United Way Australia provided seed funding from the Department of Education and Training which helped pay for books for a couple years, and Save The Children have continued the program since in partnership with United Way Australia who provide the books delivered every month to 50 children.

Fantastic to see Julian Lennon with a positive face, once more. Great to see all the work being done around the world – especially much needed clean water and sanitation. Congratulations and bloody well done.
