On April 16, 2016 at 6:58 p.m. local time, a 7.8 earthquake struck the coast of Ecuador. Over 600 people lost their lives and 16,000 sustained injuries. In the aftermath, thousands of displaced survivors were moved to temporary shelters.

Action

Along with our charity partners at Music for Relief, a plan was put into place to respond immediately and help those on the ground in Ecuador with basic supplies.

Implementation

Efforts were concentrated in the most affected areas of Esmeralda and Manabi. Funds supported the timely delivery of safe water and other necessities to help prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.

Result

In total, 2000 hygiene kits were distributed to survivors of the Ecuador quake, providing in-the-moment potentially life-saving supplies at a crucial time in their recovery.
