Rwanda
In 2013, our Founder Julian Lennon, made it his birthday wish for supporters of The White Feather Foundation to make gifts toward a clean water campaign in partnership with charity: water. Only 57% of Rwandan citizens have access to clean water within 30 minutes of their home, so increasing that percentage was top of mind.
The overwhelmingly positive response resulted in enough funds to build two new water wells, securing clean water for a community of more than 600 people.
Ethiopia
In 2014, a second campaign was launched alongside our friends at charity: water to help bring clean water to over 300 people in this impoverished nation.
Back then, most rural families in Ethiopia would survive on less than five litres of water per day and would walk up to four hours to retrieve it from a natural source.
With the implementation of hand-dug wells, which measured up to 15 metres, this was no longer necessary. The community had access to safe, clean drinking water for the first-time ever.
India
Earlier this week, we announced that we have renewed our partnership with charity: water to join forces and bring clean water to a community in Uttar Pradesh in Northern India, via a new piped water system.
Though the window of time to collect donations is extremely short, we have every faith that our supporters will step up and help us reach this goal by the deadline of June 6th.
